WHAT IS A PROTECTION DOG STUD DOG?
A protection dog stud dog is used to facilitate breeding of healthy protection dogs. A stud dog is typically bred with a bitch to produce a litter of protection dog puppies. It is important to take care when selecting your stud dog as the puppies are likely to have the same colours, behaviours, and temperament as the parents. All of our stud dogs are proven meaning they have sired previous litters and proof of such can be provided if necessary.

HOW TO BREED A GUARD DOG
A GUIDE TO BREEDING A PROTECTION DOG
As protection dog experts, we believe in sharing our knowledge with other dog lovers and providing our expertise and experience to our clients. That’s why we’ve created a quick guide to demonstrate how to breed a protection dog, helping to ensure the whole process is as smooth as possible.
Firstly, you should wait until your female enters a period of heat. This usually takes place twice per year and can be identified by numerous behavioural changes and blood spotting.
Next, once your female enters heat, you should book a progesterone test. This allows you to monitor her ovulation to ensure she is bred at the correct time.
Once you have determined the best day to breed your dog, you should get in touch with the stud dog owner to book the breeding process. This typically takes place via artificial insemination.
After the breeding takes place, you’ll wait around 9 weeks until your dog gives birth. You can also book an ultrasound scan from 3 weeks after breeding to monitor her progress.
